Goldner String Quartet
In 2020 the music world was to celebrate Beethoven’s 250 birthday. To commemorate the occasion in Australia, the renowned Goldner String Quartet (who celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2020) commissioned 25 composers to create a variation on the master’s Ode to Joy theme. We were each allotted 45 secs (ish) and assigned a key and tempo. The collaborative piece, entitled The Goldner Variations, was to have been performed at The Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville QLD in 2020, but due to Covid19, the performance was postponed to 2022.
